From initial contact to onboarding
an experience report by Alexander Schmitt

Who am I?

My name is Alexander Schmitt and I work as a consultant in finance. Today I’m going to give you a little insight into my early days at ADWEKO.

From initial contact to onboarding

My first contact with ADWEKO was through the graduate app JobTeaser. In this app, I have stored my professional career and my professional interests in order to reach companies that are looking for suitable candidates. These companies and their recruiters were able to decide whether my profile met their requirements based on my interests. If the feedback was positive, the recruiter was able to view my complete information, including my CV, and contact me.

So the ADWEKO HR departmentapproached me. During the job interviews, I was already able to make contact with future colleagues and my team leader. The discussions were always on an equal footing and I was quickly convinced that ADWEKO was the right employer for me. After signing the contract, I began my induction, during which I already had close contact with my team leader and was able to attend important meetings. This prepared me perfectly for my first day at work.

Culture

I noticed the unique corporate culture at ADWEKO right after our first phone call. It goes without saying that we are on first-name terms here, and I find that extremely pleasant. In my opinion, this open and honest communication with each other is made considerably easier.

Project Kick-Off

Weeks before my first day at work, I was informed by my team leader that I would be starting my first project on my second day. Although there was a lot that was new to me, I was able to settle in quickly and work independently thanks to the support of my colleagues. I really appreciated the opportunity to take on this task without any previous project experience and the trust that was placed in me.

Welcome-Day

My first day at work was a very special“welcome day” in the Stuttgart office. There I was able to get to know my colleagues from different departments who started at the same time as me. During this day, I received a comprehensive introduction to the world of ADWEKO. Our technical equipment was specially prepared for my future day-to-day work as a consultant, and we were given exciting insights into the various systems and business areas. With plenty of information, stimulating conversations and great anticipation for the coming weeks, I then made my way home.

The Welcome Week

Welcome Week takes place once a quarter in the Stuttgart office. Here, all new employees have the opportunity to get to know each other and learn more about ADWEKO and the different areas of the company. During this week, I was able to experience four intensive and instructive days in which the various areas were presented in detail. This made me realize how diverse ADWEKO is and what opportunities there are in addition to my own area. There was also training on relevant topics, such as a PowerPoint course, which is very helpful for my day-to-day work. As not all of my colleagues have a direct banking background, we were taught the most important banking basics by my team colleague Mirko on the last day of the Welcome Week.

During the breaks, we had the opportunity to network with other colleagues from the office and get to know them personally. As I work from home a lot, I really enjoyed this opportunity and had many conversations.

The end of Welcome Week also marked the end of my first month at ADWEKO. I saw and learned a lot of new things and always had a lot of fun. I look forward to the coming months!
